Vanessa: Vanessa is an organic gardener who is passionate about curiosity-led learning and loves empowering others to connect and nourish their relationships with the land. Vanessa believes that our bodies and lands are potent sites of knowing that are interwoven and that decolonizing either is a complex, ongoing, and pivotal step toward liberation. Vanessa believes that this path requires communal learning, rest, and healing, which are best found by counting time by the seasons and all of the discoveries and lessons nature affords us. You can find Vanessa in a sunny spot reading, grooving, or taking care of her plant friends. And when you can’t find her, she is probably cooking.

Olivia: My name is Olivia. I am a student and steward of the Earth. Some of my goals are creating a safe food hub between black communities in America and teaching how to start sustainable market gardens and food forests in their own backyards. I am very excited to learn everything that the Future Farmer Program has to offer!

Celeste: Celeste loves to have their hands in the dirt and understands that building healthy soil restores needed health for community, self and ecosystems. Celeste’s experiences as a gardener, farmer, herbalist and community organizer center access to ancestral foods and medicines for most impacted communities. They are excited to deepen their commitment to agroecology while building skills, broadening community and applying gained knowledge to increase access and respect for QTBIPOC farmers and youth.

Paulo: Paulo is a personal trainer born and raised in southern california. He grew up on his granparent’s farm in the desert and then moved to LA where he now volunteers on local farms, and tends to his backyard garden. He aspires to be on a permaculture based homestead that provides food, knowledge, and tools to lgbtq people of color in order for them to achieve the same goal. Outside of farming he loves working out, karaoke, collecting vintage toys, and spending days with his dog Roach.

Briana: Briana is a land steward, herbalist, and wellness advocate blending her background and skills as a Mental Health Peer Specialist, Spiritualist, and Yoga Teacher to empower and equip individuals with tools for breakthrough transformation. She enjoys cultivating healing spaces for black women to remember their kinship with the land, reclaim their bodies, pursue their personal truths, and live a life in alignment with their authentic Self.
