Future Farmer Program

Mar 1, 2023

Are you committed to going into farming as a career? If so, we encourage you to apply to WWOOF-USA’s Future Farmer Program!

WWOOF is committed to supporting the next generation of farmers in getting a head start through educational farming experiences and to increasing the diversity of farm operators in the USA.

The Future Farmer Program, established in 2020, will award 20 grants this year to WWOOFers committed to becoming farmers. The award is intended to help fund a one-month WWOOF visit in the USA.

WWOOF USA is excited to partner with the Multinational Exchange for Sustainable Agriculture (MESA) again to provide online Training in Applied Agroecology Program (TAAP) paired with the on-farm WWOOF experience.

To be considered, participants must either be enrolled in an agricultural studies program, have a strong background in farming, or other qualifying experience that shows commitment to becoming an organic farmer.

Participants are required to WWOOF in the USA from July 1-31, 2023. During this time, they are also required to participate in TAAP and will meet twice weekly online. Please note, the Future Farmer Program is only open to U.S. residents and priority enrollment will be given to socially disadvantaged U.S. residents as defined by the USDA here

Awards are for $2,000 per successful applicant.

Please check back in early 2024 for more information on our 2024 Future Farmer Program.

Future Farmer Grant recipients Jenna (2021), Juan Pablo (2022) and Jessica (2022).
